What is Oracle’s willingness to share data and talk to other software?
How Do We Account For Biases When Creating Models And Selecting Data?
In the video below on CxO Talk, I asked Murli Buluswar, former Chief Science Officer of AIG and Michael Li, Chief Executive Officer of The Data Incubator about how to deal with biases in data.
In my view, data biases are a real threat. As models evolve, we have to make sure they don’t have biases:
- Prior to inclusion into a model
- During inclusion into a model
- After the recommendations by a model
How useful or not has been the DoDAF, the DoD Architecture Framework for NAVFAC culture?
How Useful (or not) has the DoDAF been for the US Navy?
In the video below on CxO Talk, I asked Anthony Joyce, Deputy Chief Information Officer of NAVFAC at The US Navy about the link (or lack of) between a technical framework to the culture of the organization.
In my view, there is direct link between an enterprise architecture framework and an organization’s culture. Enterprise Architecture frameworks requires us to understand where we are, where we want to be and how to get there. We put all of this information on a piece of (big) paper so that everyone has a broad view of what is going on. All this information is gathered by people who talk to people and created for people.
- An organization’s culture comes into play when people who are gathering this information are limited to what they can gather due to some pre-established rules and norms of the organization
- An organization’s culture comes into play when people who are providing this information are not comfortable with sharing everything since it might be preceived as a danger to thier job security
- An organization’s culture comes into play when the people who this information is created for are only interested in confirming thier own biases without thinking holistically
